Biography

Pulitzer Prize–winning poet Mark Strand was born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, and though mostly raised in the United States, he lived in South and Central America in his teens. The author of over 15 collections of poetry, Strand has also published fiction, art criticism, translations, and children’s books, as well as several books on poetry, and he has edited numerous anthologies. He has served as Poet Laureate of the United States and has won the Bollingen Prize, among other honours. Strand teaches at Columbia University in New York.
